Be Careful What You Pray For

The fun thing about God, is that we do not always get what we want in the way we want. For if we pray for patience, we get the opportunity to practice that patience. If we pray for strength, we get the situation that allows us to be strong.

Thanks, Nate. I needed to hear that tonight. :-)

I find that to be true, as well.

Good to see you, Nate.

and if you ask for love?

the same holds true ... a blazing light will shine and show every area in your own life where you fail to love others .... a great opportunity to get our acts together.

For if we learn to unconditionally love we need not learn anything else.

Righteousness before the cross.

[If one] does not oppress anyone, but restores to the debtor his pledge, commits no robbery, gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with a garment, does not take advance or accrued interest, withholds his hand from iniquity, executes true justice between contending parties, follows my statutes, and is careful to observe my ordinances, acting faithfully—such a one is righteous; he shall surely live, says the Lord God.

Ain't that the truth?

About six years ago, I prayed for patience. If ever I regretted any prayer, it's that one. I've certainly had many opportunities to practise patience over the years since then.

and then there are the times where we don't pray for anything because that's the last thing we want to do and then the Spirit prays for us and we get the friggin stuff anyway!!

That is the "fun" thing, isn't it? I've heard the saying that God answers all prayers, but sometimes the answer is "No". I realize the your post is more accurate... sometimes His answer is "Hehehehe, you asked for it"...
